What’s the Weather Like on Memorial Day Weekend?
The weather in Lake Tahoe during Memorial Day weekend is usually warm during the day and cool at night. Expect sunny skies and temperatures in the 60s or low 70s. Nights drop to the 40s, so pack a jacket. The lake water is still cold, but people still kayak, paddleboard, or cruise. It’s a great mix of spring and early summer.
Celebrate Opening Day at the Lake
Locals call Memorial Day Weekend Opening Day at the Lake. It’s the unofficial start of the summer season. Restaurants open their lakefront decks, boats go in the water, and bike paths get busy. One of the most popular events is Rock the Deck at Sunnyside, where there’s live music, food, and fun views over the lake. If you don’t have a boat, no problem rent bikes, walk the shoreline, or ride the free TART bus to explore town.
Don’t Miss the Made in Tahoe Festival
On Saturday and Sunday (May 24–25), head to The Village at Palisades Tahoe for the Made in Tahoe Festival. This event celebrates all things local artists, food, music, and more. You’ll find handmade crafts, tasty treats, and live shows, all surrounded by mountains. It’s one of the best ways to experience the local community.
Still Time to Ski!
This year, thanks to lots of snow, Palisades Tahoe is open for skiing through Memorial Day! You can go skiing in the morning and paddleboarding in the afternoon. The mountain also has live music and a great spring vibe. Ski lovers shouldn’t miss this rare chance to enjoy winter and summer in one weekend.
